Discrimination has become a common problem in the society and is being experienced by various people in different walks of life. A school is an institution that has to provide equal opportunities to all children irrespective of their age, color, nationality, caste, gender and disability. Minority children find it difficult in public schools as they are denied several opportunities in sports and other areas. Some areas of sports, for example, are clearly gender biased. There is a prejudice existent in the public school system which harms the children’s progress in many ways.
However, when discrimination exists in the schools, the parents have to be additionally aware and also extra cautious about their approach. Discrimination can be removed from the society parents have to repeatedly approach the school system and fight for equal opportunity for their chidden in different arenas of education. The gender bias when it comes to sports has to be consciously removed by the school system as even girl children may be equally capable as the boys in some sports. Parents who have victimized children due to discrimination can approach the law or the office of the civil rights.
