Information On Obesity Discrimination
Obesity is the single biggest killer and major health problem that America is facing today. Nearly 60 percent of people are obese or borderline overweight according to statistics. There is an alarming increase in the rate of obesity and related diseases in the past three decades. Also, this has been neglected by the US Public Health Board, and now people are opening their eyes to the fact that obesity is, of course, a killer disease. |

Obesity can be caused due to genetic factors and also is a chronic disease. Along with obesity even weight discrimination is becoming an increasing problem. People who are obese face problems at multiple levels in the society. They are severely discriminated in the society and also by educational institutions and employers. Some people are too fat and they actually have limited job opportunities to take.
Weight discrimination is just like any other discrimination but has more detrimental effects on the person. A person is led to believe that they are not accepted by the society constantly. The constant rejection leads to more problems like depression and suicide in them.
Right now obesity litigation is also increasing and actually it is changing how Americans perceive obesity in the current society. The literacy groups are behaving like watch dogs for the obese and age encouraging them to file a law suit whenever they treated in an improper fashion. If an obese person has the necessary skills to perform a job, then they should be given right to apply for their job and also interviewed. This act aims to get rid of discrimination that occurs due to a person's weight in the US, a discrimination that is causing several more problems.
