Why Are Prejudice And Discrimination Behaviors Unethical ?
Prejudice and discrimination are actually two sides of the same coin. Ethics are moral values in the society that meet with certain standards. Unless people have ethics they will not have any rules or restraint from harming someone. Prejudice is having an opinionated high regard for their own beliefs and values only. People who discriminate are often prejudice against a race or a color or a gender. All their actions are based on this behavior.
Being prejudice or discriminating against a certain sect of people base on unreasonable conditions like a physical disability or color is not ethical. The color, caste, creed or physical or mental disability has no bearing on the persons intelligence, moral values or emotional intelligence. So they should be treated with equal respect in the society undoubtedly. Not treating them like respected human beings can be harmful for the self image of the person. Often discrimination comes from an inner feeling where people have higher regard for themselves and think that the other person is inferior to them. There is a clear loss of respect from this prejudice attitude of theirs. These kinds of feelings are actually created by the society itself and then passed on generations after generations.
Even though the United States government has stringent laws against various typed of discrimination it only protects them with employers and public places. But they society is still discriminating even today.
