When it comes to taking up jobs and professions after they have retired, seniors find it impossible. Everywhere they go they are faced with rejection clearly based on their age.

Not only they find it difficult to find jobs but they also get laid off from their existing jobs. There are several younger people who are in the same job market as the seniors. It is always beneficial for an employer to get a younger person do the same job for several reasons. They will need to pay low insurance costs and also they can bargain better on salaries when it comes to the younger people. Seniors are seen as liabilities by several employers.

There are some types of industries that do value the seniors and their work experience.

However, they are very few and far apart. With the increasing baby boomer population there will be more jobless seniors with no jobs. Employers reject the applications from seniors in several different ways like for example they may reject saying they are over qualified. All these are just different ways of saying no to a person who is being discriminated based on age. A very small percentage of younger aged individuals get discriminated based on age. Even though they completely deserve a higher position, they are not promoted.
