People who are especially in the older age group face discrimination for their age in various places and circumstances. It is very unfortunate that once people grow old they actually lose respect and a chance to live in the society normally. Age discrimination can occur to any age group where they are being rejected from a specific purpose only because of their age. They might have the capability or the experience to complete the task, but they are still refused a job because of their age. One of the main areas where the effects of age discrimination are clearly seen is at employment.
People get denied at employment because they are too old to perform the job despite of their experience and knowledge. In some cases people get denied of a promotion or position because they are too old or young for it. Seniors and older people and sometimes very young people get discriminated on age when it comes to paying salaries. Actually age has no bearing on salaries.
The effects of age discrimination are also seen in the housing sector. Several home owners do not let their houses to people who are very old. That is why several seniors stick to retirement communities rather than face rejection. Seniors often get rejected why home owners in normal communities and find it very difficult to find a home.
