In the United States, nearly 60 percent of the people suffer from obesity or over weight problems. Obesity does not only cause health problems but also causes emotional and mental problems. People who are obese are given differential treatment in the society and they suffer at various places like employment and other places. Employers to discriminate people who are over weight. Even though a person has the intelligence to perform the job they are often rejected after the interview with the employer.
Right now there are several legal organizations that fight for obesity discrimination and actually these organizations are encouraging people to file law suits in case they have been discriminated based on their weight. Employment over weight discrimination is rampant in the society and several people are turning to legal help because they feel discriminated. Slightly over weight people do not face this problem but people whoa are very obese are often rejected by employers. Some of the problems that employers face because of obesity employees are they pay higher insurance premiums because of their body mass index. They also pay surcharge. Sometimes, obese people are denied healthcare insurance. They are also terminated without reason.
