Factors For Equal Pay Act

Equal Pay Act is one the laws of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act that allows people from the same type of job levels to be entitled to equal pay. It also applies to gender discrimination where men usually get paid more than women. Women who work full time just like men in similar positions always earn lesser pay scales than men. The women working in part time earn meagerly salaries compared to men.

This is where the Equal Pay Act comes into picture. It states that men and women who work in similar jobs are allowed to earn the same amount of pay for the same amount of hours they put in. The Equal Pay Act came into existence in 1970 soon after the Employment Act was passed by the Congress.

Even in the United States the Equal Pay Act is not in complete force. Even now gender based differences can be found among employers. Women in the company are not given very high positions because the employer sees it as a threat.

There are only a handful of women who lead top companies and most of them are men in this category. Most employers feel that women do not stay committed to their jobs and they would be endangering their companies if they give them the top role in the company to play. Even though women have the complete capability to play leading roles they still are stopped from growing within a company. This is also one of the laws covered by the Equal Pay Act.
