What Disabilities Included In Fair Housing Act ?

The Americans with Disability Act or the ADA protects the interests of the disabled by providing them various rights, including fair housing rights. They are also covered under the Fair Housing Act of 1958. The disabled have rights everywhere including the public places, transport, local government, employment, transportation and everything that a normal person would enjoy.

They cannot be denied any facility, and also a business has to make sure that their accessibility options and interests are incorporated as a part of their business. For instance, if a disabled person approaches a landlord for a house in the first floor, then the landlord cannot deny saying that he or she is handicapped and therefore, the house will not be suitable. The access for the house should be available in such a way that even the handicapped person can use it. Any discrimination is not allowed and if so the handicapped person can to the court against the landlord.

Even while giving advertisements the landlord or the seller should not display any information that discriminates the handicapped. The handicapped are allowed all kinds of facilities including special staircases. If it a general apartment or complex, they should have handicap access in the building or else it would be against the laws of Fair Housing Act. The buildings should have elevators and accessibility options for the handicapped people. Also, special parking slots should be provided for handicapped people. A builder should keep all these things in mind while construction of the building itself.
