What Is The Definition Of Gender Discrimination ?

Gender discrimination is the act of preferring someone based on their sexuality and ignoring the other sex. For instance, a manager at the work place may clearly prefer only males and therefore may be overlooking the credentials of the women as a result. The women may not end up getting jobs in that organization. This is called gender discrimination.

Gender discrimination is mainly disparate treatment of people based on sex. It is women who suffer the wrath of gender discrimination most of the times. Women have difficulty reaching to higher positions in their work sphere because they are mainly seen as unproductive and also non career oriented persons by their bosses. Also, a woman who has a male boss often suffers from gender discrimination. Sexual violence is also a part of gender discrimination and often is a result of this type of discrimination. Only men who have inferior views about women make sexually derogatory remarks and get down to sexual violence.

Gender discrimination has relatively stopped in the last decade and some researches also show that under the age group of thirty the gender discrimination has almost disappeared and there are better work ethics now. There is equal pay prevalent for equal amount of work irrespective of nationality, race, color and gender. The gender bias is slowly disappearing starting from the younger generations. Also, the generation gap plays a large role in the gender bias. People belonging to a certain period of time in the past have a set mind of thinking. It is true that people belonging to the same generation think alike.
