Racism in the US is felt by different communities, mainly the Native Americans, American Jews, Mexican Americans, Muslims and Arabs. Discrimination against Africans, Latin Americans and Muslims is also prevalent in equal amounts. Racial discrimination was felt in housing, government jobs and education. Where ever white people could control the environment racial discrimination was felt.
The minorities have been suffering at the hands of popular American white population. The white population easily got access to college education, better housing and also they were more confident because they had approval in the larger picture or the society.
Whereas, the black community and other minorities did not have this advantage. Several of them suffered from poverty and due to constant racial discrimination at various levels right from schooling to everything they had been given a bad treatment. Today several steps have been taken to control the prejudice attitude and racial discrimination among various levels of the societies. Also, laws for employment and housing are more stringent than before and any type of discrimination for whatever reason is not allowed. People are free to practice their own religion, caste or race and culture if they wish to.
