Child support is calculated by a court based on the child’s needs. Now the needs for every child are quite different and mainly depend on the type of lifestyle the parents were providing the child. For example, if a child was attending a private school which can be very expensive, after divorce the parents will still have to make sure the child is attending a private school or equivalent. Also, which parent is going to pay more depend son the ability of the parent to support at that point of time.
The standards of living of the child are calculated when the parents were not divorced. Mainly the court aims at the possibility that the child should not have to go through too many compromises after the divorce. Also, income based calculation is made in order to calculate child support. All said and done the parents income should also be able to support the demands of the child support.
