What Expenses Does Child Support Cover ?
Having the child support case cleared up in court is an easier said than done task. Child support includes several factors about the child and the parents. The amount of child support is calculated based on what is included as the child's needs and what is not. One of the main things that the court will look into is the child's lifestyle that the parents were providing before the divorce. |
The needs and necessities are, therefore, calculated based on the lifestyle the child was being provided so far. The child support that has to be provided also depends on the parent’s financial status. So basically two main points are considered like the income differential and what amount of time the parent is spending with the child. If it is a joint custody, then both the parents will have the same level of expenditure.
The court also takes the approach of rewarding the parent who spends time with the child. The more the parent is willing to spend the time with the child the more the court is understanding towards that parent. Also, it depends on individual income as to how much each parent should put away for the child for expenses. That certain amount has to be contributed to the primary caretaker of the children. The child support will cover even bills for comfort like outings and holidays if the child has been used to such a lifestyle on a regular basis. Any extracurricular activities will not be compromised and the parents would continue paying for it in the usual manner.
