What Is The Average Child Support Payment ?
Most people with children going through a divorce think that the child support is calculated in a standard way and they can come up with a common figure. However this notion is extremely wrong because every individual child has different needs which will decide the payment. There have been instances where a parent is slapped with child support that he or she cannot afford. However, the parent still has to cover these payments. |
In paying child support, no parent actually benefits. If one parent has to spend more time with the child, then other parent will need to make more payment. Also, if one parent is earning more than the other, then obviously that parent will need to contribute more for the child support.
The court usually decides the base amount which is calculated based on the child's daily expenses. The daily expenses will give a detailed picture of what type of lifestyle the child is used to. If there is more than one child, then the child support is calculated for all the involved children individually. It is highly unlikely that the court will separate the children and give the custody to different parents. Mostly the children will end up together. There have been activists who feel that the child support payments have been outrageously high. The court assumes that the parents will spend 40 percent of their income on their offsprings, and should continue in the same fashion.
Average child support payment depends on the daily lifestyle of the children, irrespective of how much each parent actually earns.
