Psychological Effects In Children Of Divorce
In a divorce case, where children are involved, it is invariably the children who take the brunt of it all. Starting from insecurity they go through a range of other emotional problems. Losing one parent or staying away from one of them is not a good feeling for any of the children. There are several psychological effects which continue to influence through out their early years of development. Also, it has effects on them as a grown up. |
Statistics show that nearly 75 percent of the children actually oppose the divorce of their parents. They mostly realize that they are going to lose the stability and the security they have had. Also, they start feeling insecure. It is not always the ultimate divorce which affects them and it is all the events that cause the divorce.
Children start feeling insecure because of the arguments and fights that take place between the parents. The accusations and the physical and domestic violence also have effects on their upbringing. In some cases, the couples get so violent that divorce becomes a more sensible answer for the betterment of children. Some children who go through the entire case of divorce start vehemently opposing marriage and any kind of serious relationships. They also develop trust issues and find it very difficult to trust anyone as a life partner as adults. Some children become emotional abusers themselves. Also, children have to cope with the social status of coming from a broken family. At a young age they do not even know how to ignore the society’s reaction to their status. All this amounts to insecurity in their growing up.
