Case Studies On Domestic Violence

Domestic violence and also domestic abuse is the silent killer of a marriage. Several men and women go through domestic violence in their everyday life even without knowing that they are going through it. The signs of domestic violence in men or women are so subtle that people often confuse it with normal marital squabbles. Only when they increase in intensity, pattern and frequency, do spouses start realizing that there is something very seriously wrong with their marriage.

Domestic violence in a marriage has several gradations. Some are more violent that couples can tell the difference. It is a common belief in the society that men are the main perpetrators of domestic violence which is actually not true. Even women cause domestic violence on their partners and it is increasingly becoming common.

Case studies show there could be several reasons for domestic violence itself. If one of the spouses is depressed, have trust issues or psychological problems then domestic violence can take place in all likely hoods. A domestic abuser often makes their allegations and attacks in planned way so that the other person does not realize. The other person does not even know when to expect it and is least prepared. Also, the person, who is suffering from violence, tends to suffer from low self esteem and is also going through depression. It takes years to understand that they have been victims of domestic violence and by then they would have developed a feeling of less worth about themselves. It is very difficult to get out of the trap of domestic violence and the best and the only solution is for the spouse to leave.
