The statistics of juvenile crime is pretty alarming in the US. Today, the juvenile crime rate is nearly double of the adult crime rate. During the period of one year according to research nearly 60 percent of the children from 0 to 17 years experience at least one or more than one counts of criminal activity directly. Children from 0 to 3 years experience severe neglect and also the highest rate of abuse has been found in this age group unfortunately. Nearly 32 percent of the victims of assault have been found to be in this age category. This encumbers children from various ethnic backgrounds from all over the US. Most of the cases have been reported by doctors. The immediate primary giver who is the mother has been found to be the culprit on more than 39 percent of the cases. Parents are also seen as the perpetrators of maltreatment on children. Nearly 8 percent of the kids who were victims of abuse have been reported to be disabled.
Child abuse is one of the biggest reasons for causing juvenile victims in that age group. Sexual violence and sexual assault especially on girl children is also a primary reason for victimizing juveniles. Nearly fifty-one percent of the victims were killed by their baby sitters due to intent to lack of attention in the year of 2008.
