Why Is The Problem Of Juvenile Crime So Disconcerting ?

The problem of juvenile crime is an increasing phenomenon and it is quite disconcerting because researches are concerned about the rate of increase and how it is likely to go up in the next five to ten years. Even if they remain the same in the following years, the percentage is still too very high. Juvenile crime is one of the leading causes of concern because statistics show that the rate has doubled to adult crime in the present day scenario.

Juvenile crime includes crimes committed by juveniles and also children in that age group who have been victimized by crime. Nearly 80 percent of the kids in the US experience crime in their growing up years at least once and that too directly.

A child who has been exposed to crime goes through tremendous mental disturbances and also if they have been exposed to such crime on a repeated basis then they could turn into criminals themselves. Some cities show a higher rate of crime by juveniles in the form of sexual assault among their peers, drug and substance abuse. Children also commit minor felony and crime like shoplifting or victimizing others. People who own a gun in their house are increasing the risks of juvenile crime directly b y two folds.

Criminologists have been repeatedly addressing the problem of juvenile crime and were attempting to curb the effects of it socially by reaching out to people and increasing they awareness. Juvenile crime can be brought down only by the parents of the children.
