Citizenship Ceremony In The Us
The citizenship ceremony is the one, which is the last path to becoming a US citizen. There is a naturalization process, which occurs at the time when the person has been approved as a US citizen. These ceremonies are held every year and depend on various factors like sponsorships and location purposes. |
The ceremonies are held in such a way whereby every individual who get converted into a US citizen or other local immigrants including city officials do make a general announcement. The ceremonies can be held in a grand manner only if there is enough sponsorship or generally it is a small affair. Now, during this ceremony, the people who had applied for citizenship and those who became a US citizen are provided citizen packets.
These packets or gifts include documents, literature, guiding rules, voter registration, a miniature of the US flag, copy of rules and responsibilities and another copy of US constitution. Sometimes, the neighboring people are also allowed to be a part of this ceremony. Apart form all this the new citizen is welcomed warmly. He or she is given a brief detail about the nation, judicial system, federal rules, importance of being a US citizen, rights and duties, and details about the naturalization process. This lasts for a good 2 hrs and includes some other events too. The judge would then take a look over the Oath of Allegiance.
A large group of people would recite the US pledge. Many other important people and speakers do congratulate the individual and discusses the responsibilities with you. The ceremony ends with declaration of the name of countries from where each of these residents has come from. On hearing the name of one's country, he or she will have to stand and oblige. Lastly, no ceremony finishes without any kind of entertainment. Once the ceremony ends, a reception is usually held after few days where there is non-stop entertainment.
