How Do You Get Citizenship In France ?

It is very important that individuals think twice before deciding to apply for citizenship. There are many rules and regulations that govern the whole naturalization process, which at times can become too tedious. You do enjoy great benefits after becoming a citizen, however, think twice before making a decision.

The procedure again is like the normal ones. Firstly, you would need to have a visa allowing you to reside in France. You must be 18 years old. The next step is to make sure it is a valid visa for an extended period of time. Secondly, you must reside in France for at least five years. However, remember that there are certain exceptions. If you happen to marry a French national or render services in the French armed force, then you do not have to follow this requirement to the core. Thirdly, make sure you have a reasonably sound job in France before you go on to file for citizenship. The most important part is to understand the language, which is a crucial role in any country. You need to be fluent in French.

You should be able to write, read and speak French brilliantly. Once you know all these requirements and successfully follow them, you would not face much issues or difficulties with the clearance. Now, you are ready to fill the application form. Make sure you submit the necessary documents (birth certificate, proof of marital status, identification, evidence of France residency, character certificate), which are very important along with necessary further details. The French Consulate will ask you questions about your documents and be ready to answer them.

The next process would be the screening process, which is normally completed by the government. They will inspect and verify the documents and check your past criminal records both in France as well as the local country if any. If you happen to come from a nation where the official language is French, then you will not have to go through all these problems. If you happen to pass or qualify any course from any of France's university, you will not have to follow the maximum number of years. This nation also allows you to enjoy dual citizenship without worrying much about renouncing your original citizenship. Lastly, the whole process will take lot of time and is not an easy one. Be ready to run a number of times to the government office and other important places.
