Rentry After Extradition
The extradition process takes place due to many reasons. Now of the times the government will allow permanent residents of the US to enter back. It is known as a reentry permit. This permit allows and determines that you never renounced your citizenship although it might take your travel time into account. You also do not have to worry of getting a resident visa if you have been outside for a long period of time. These permits do come with time limit, which in most cases is 2 yrs. All you need to do is filling up a form namely I-131 followed by paying the reentry permit fees well before your trip. |
Well, before would ideally mean two months or more. The most important thing is that you have to be present in person while applying and filing this form .No third party can do it for you. In case you do plan to go to the US, but only for a short while like 3 months or 9 months, you would not have to apply for this permit. Only trip extending more than a year need reentry permits. The normal fees to apply for reentry permit would be $385. This fees has sub-partitions too. It must be paid through a check and not cash. The check or in some cases cash needs to be paid in US itself. Once you are ready to file the form, all you need to do is to locate any USCIS location office, which provides you an answer for your initial application. You can then switch to form G-1145, which is Petition acceptance and attach to your Form I-131. In certain cases, your form might not be accepted if, your previous reentry permit card is still valid and has not expired. If your application is not accepted by the federal register and does not like your travel to a particular location.
You need to attach all the important documents along with necessary photographs and fees. Provide everything to the officer in a clean manner, by attaching every important form and making use of a paper-clip rather than handling it badly. You must ideally receive the application for Form I-797 just within a month after your initial application.
