Cost Of Foreign Adoption

There are many Americans who wish to adopt and can do it due to their financial status. But the costs involved in adopting a foreign national kid are expensive and tedious. Most of the times, a family adopts another child if they are unable to have one or would prefer a young child. You need to spend a good decade waiting to adopt an US kid below 2 years.

The international adoption works very fast. Hence, most people in the US opt for international adoption. Once the deal is set, the adoption agencies are found out and new prices come into picture. Most parents opting for adoption turn their ways at this stage because of the price rise. A minimum of $30,000 can be incurred in this process followed by hidden other costs. You really need to be financially stable to enter such a format. The minor basic fee starts from $10,000 to nearly $30,000. The adoption agencies easily receive a part of this. Why are you charges such an exorbitant amount? Firstly, the fees includes charges for dossier, court costs (both countries), immigration costs and donations.

These fees are the same in case of domestic and foreign agencies. Costs would start at $1,000 and easily stop at $3,000 for any kind of home study that is undertaken. Every step in the process of adoption costs a bomb. The medical treatments are also charged followed by the other adoption, hotel and airport costs involved in bringing the child back. Some countries also charge child escort fees. The next sets of costs need to be incurred for passport, visa and translation. The adopted child will again have to go for a series of medical check ups before applying for visa. Once you set to travel overseas you will again have to spend on health, food, accommodation and transportation. You also need to accessorize your things, and buy new clothes and other toys and stuff. Some countries would want you to spend some time sight-seeing with the kid before adopting.

Other costs involve agent cost, charity etc. Now before getting into any kind of legalities you need to consult an accountant well in advance. This will help you too get rid or manage your tax requirements in the process. However expensive and cumbersome the process be, there are thousands who prefer foreign adoption and are ready to cover any amount of costs; some even to the extent of taking up a second temporary job, and selling off land and properties. You can also seek help from churches and other financial institutions in this regard.
