Foreign Adoption And Citizenship

The adoption process might really shrink you but that is just not the end. Adoption procedure might involve lots of cash but the next thing that awaits would be getting citizenship for the new child. There are many requirements that need to be fulfilled during the immigration process.

The Child Citizenship Act of 2000 clearly states that the adopted child can receive immediate confirmation if the one of the parent is a US citizen. In other cases, if the child has entered on IR-4 visa, you need to immediately legalize your child citizenship needs for your child. Once the adoption is finalized, your child might easily become a US citizen. There are other kids who enter the US on IR-3, and immediately get confirmed for the citizenship.

There are other requirements like presenting photographs, medical bills, treatment reports to the agency or child's original country even after years of placement. This is done to make sure that the child is been treated well.

These will definitely give a good picture of the US and would further allow US citizens to adopt kids. When does a child receive IR-3visa? It occurs if in any case you must have noticed the child in the country before going for adoption. The adoption was already determined long back before the kid leaving his original place. The adoption was fully accepted and considered by the other country. There are many states that will not recognize any foreign adoption procedures. They would strongly assert on going for a read option system once the kid enters the new country. Many families also willingly go for this extra procedure so that they can obtain a US birth certificate. The child's interest is being protected and he or she will be treated as born in the US. They are protected from any kind of future problems arising out or claimed by their adoptive parents. In fact, the entire read option process takes lot of time and it is always advisable to get in touch with your lawyer or agency.

The next thing to do is obtaining proof from USCIS about the citizenship certificate. Only children who were back on IR-3 visa do get this certificate immediately. The next thing is getting a SSN number assigned to the kid. This will again be a valid proof of US citizenship. Lastly, begin this new life with lots of fun and love. Do provide him or her necessary treatments followed by education and food. Do try to explain them later about such an adoption. Let that kid take his or her own time to understand things better. Keep sending photographs and other necessary documents to show the agency that you have been extremely protective of the new kid.
