What Is A Work Permit ?
Work permit is a term that is generally used for the legal authorization that allows people taking an employment. This is mainly used in situations where a person is granted permission to work in a country where he or she does not hold the citizenship of the same country. But apart from this, it is also used to refer to the minors who require any sort of permit under certain jurisdictions in order to work legally because of the child labor laws. |
The rules and regulations associated to the whole process of attaining a work permit may differ as per the legal terms of the various countries. There are individual rules and regulations for work permits in the European Union. At present, almost every European Union country possesses a separate process in order to grant such work permits to the non European Union countries’ people working here. The whole procedure of granting such legal permissions to people coming from the non EU countries began around the year 1999. In the year 2007, these countries too adopted the similar programs as possessed by the US. The ‘Green Card’ program, which is active within the United States, was taken in the form of ‘Blue Card’ program, which began to be used in these countries.
As far as the other parts of the world are concerned, there are around seven different standard ways of applying for such work permits in the UK, while in Singapore the whole process is overlooked by the Manpower Ministry.
