Real Estate Appraisal New Law      On 1st May 2009, the Home Valuation Code of Conduct came into effect. This new law set standards for soliciting, selecting and compensating appraisers, while establishing independence of an appraiser and preventing conflicts of interest. The law was meant to govern mortgages that were sold to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and did not cover mortgages guaranteed by the FHA and Federal Home Loan Bank. (See Reference 1) More..
