Driving In The Rain Safety

When it is raining, one has to drive very carefully. Rains in the United States are not seasonal and they can start at any time. Also, the United States receives an exorbitant amount of rainfall due to tornadoes and storms. When you are driving at high speeds in the rain, your car will start hydroplaning very easily.

Here are some tips on safe driving in the rain:

First of all drive slowly. Adjust your speed according to the severity of the rain. While it is raining, it often takes some time to bring the car to a halt. So, make sure that you plan your speed accordingly.

Always stay in the middle lane because the water from the rain tends to pool on the side lanes. The middle lane is usually cleaner and water free.

Increase the minimum distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in the front or behind. In rains, the same distance should be doubled because the visibility is less.

Always try to stick to the lane and tracks, and you can do this by following the vehicle in front of you at a moderate speed.

Do not follow large vehicles like buses and trucks too closely. They create large sprays of water and you may lose complete visibility if this happens.

Do not exceed a speed limit where it becomes difficult for you to apply the brakes. Always ensure that you are in control of the brakes, and the car will stop when you press the brakes. While driving in rain, be sensitive to others and avoid splashing on them.
