Drunk driving is not excusable in any part of the civilized world. Getting caught or not is not the issue. It is illegal to drink and drive. In the United States, if a person is caught drinking while driving, then their driver's license can be cancelled. That is the worst consequence anyone can have and also they can be sent to jail for a couple of days if they were involved in an accident. In case of a severe accident, the penalties and the punishments can be even more severe.
