When you are driving on interstate highways, one of the most intimidating things is to have a semi truck pass beside you. Usually interstates carry a very high speed limit and on most of them, the minimum speed limit is at least 65 miles per hour. When you are driving close to a semi truck, it is best you follow some defensive driving techniques. These vehicles can be dangerous enough and a collision with one of these is the last thing you need.

One of the main set back for these vehicles is the stopping distance which is much higher. When they driver applies the brakes, the vehicle moves some distance before it stops completely. That is why you should maintain a safe distance from these trucks while on the highway.

The semi trucks have to maintain a speed limit of 50 miles per hour and under even on an interstate highway. Their speeds are always lower than the regular vehicles because their stopping time is much more. So, even when these trucks stop, they can cause a rear end accident and even this could kill. That is why it is a must that these trucks maintain a lower speed limit on the highways compared to the other vehicles.
